Historically significant vintage Native American handmade necklace featuring channel inlay made using rounded stones giving it some depth and dimension. More than a couple dealers attributed the piece to Frank Vacit when they saw it at the Marin Show in February where it was purchased. There were a few Zuni artists who worked together for C.G. Wallace at the same time so it would not be unusual for those artists to influence one another. (Hopi Bird and Sun Face in Zuni Jewelry by Sei) Our research consisted of our own knowledge, reviewing many books, asking dealers with long histories in this business, looking back at items that we have owned and internet searches. Our findings support strongly the attribution that this piece was made by a Master Zuni artist working for C.G. Wallace or other Mid Century Zuni Trader. We have seen open beak Hopi birds and pillowed inlay on SIGNED Frank Vacit pieces. The disk style and design as well as the chain used on the necklace has been a common thread in necklaces known to have been made by Frank Vacit.
