This fantastic Native American handmade turquoise, lapis, and coral Corn Maiden Fetish was hand carved by Zuni Pueblo artist Gloria Chattin. The Corn Maiden is one of the most significant subjects of Zuni art. The Corn Maidens emerged from the underworld with the Zuni, but became separated from them. Witches destroyed the crops. The twin sons of the Sun Father searched for the Corn Maidens. The Maidens returned with the corn and saved the people. This finely carved fetish will enhance the fertility of the owner and encourage the growth of plants great and small.Corn stalks and dragonflies carved into this fetish further enhance its power. The large piece of turquoise has a power of its own. This stone is considered sacred to the Zuni. It brings the power of the sky to the owner and has the power to protect and to heal. Remember that each time this fetish protects, heals, or guides you, it grows in power. They will never fail a person with good intentions who is true of heart. Providing a comfortable home for and making small offerings of food to your new fetish will also increase their power. A signed letter of authenticity is included.
